After ten years of absence, Pikmin returned to eager gamers earlier this year with the Wii U entry to the franchise, Pikmin 3. Nintendo released initial DLC packs for Pikmin 3 in both October and November. Recently in a Nintendo Direct, a third DLC pack was announced for the game.
This week, on December 2nd, this DLC pack launched alongside a software update. Unlike previous DLC packs, this pack included four all new areas to explore, and the addition of Captain Olimar (Pikmin and Pikmin 2) and Louie (Pikmin) as playable characters. Among the new areas to explore are a cavernous area with bones of larger beasts, and an industrial scrapyard.
Perhaps most interesting is the inclusion of a Holiday themed stage at no charge to all who update their software. Nintendo has now released a new trailer to show off this months DLC pack.
The new DLC pack is available on the Wii U eShop to Pikmin 3 owners for $4.99, the previous two DLC packs can also be purchased for $1.99 a piece, and the holiday themed \”Fortress of Festivity\” is available to Pikmin 3 owners, free of charge. All three packs, and the free \”Fortress of Festivity\” are available now.
