The universally-acclaimed Pokemon X and Y games are getting their own stage in the new Smash title for 3DS. According to today\’s official update, Smashers will be able to duke it out at Lumiose City, the grand skyscraper-filled hub with lights galore, a robust community, and a tower that will provide Smashers with their battleground.
\”Pic of the day. The Prism Tower rises above Lumiose City. Up until a few seconds ago, the fighters were brawling on top of that tower. No, really.\”
So it seems, if we are to take Sakurai\’s claim literally, the Smashers will indeed fight right on top of The Prism Tower. Considering the camera angle, and that the fighters may be able to fight away from the tower, this could be yet again another moving stage like Delfino Plaza or the upcoming Rainbow Road stage also on 3DS.
However, without a floating platform somewhere, its hard to tell what exactly this stage is going to do. What is this shot trying to tell us? How would this shot be done in the game, if possible at all? Is the game giving us a dynamic shot of a battlefield we haven\’t seen before or is this just part of moving away from the tower? Likely the latter.
In Pokemon X and Y, Lumiose is filled with good citizens and criminals alike, as well as a number of activities to participate in and a large area to use for breeding. It\’ll be interesting to see if this stage has any stage hazards, if any. Maybe flying type Pokemon will fly up to the tower and attack from the sky? Or we could see some rival trainers appear and throw their Pokemon onto the field. But its all just speculation at this point.
However, since we don\’t really even get to see how the Smashers fight at this stage, looks like we\’ll have to wait a bit longer to find the true identity of this stage.
