It\’s been a crazy, albeit annoying, week for anyone trying to get a clear answer on whether Amiibos are being discontinued or not. Everyday there seems to be a new text or picture going around indicating a retailer or Nintendo representative said one thing or another, or it could just be the work of a photoshop artist. Earlier this week we mentioned we were reaching out to Nintendo directly for an official response and we finally have one.
Some amiibo were very popular at launch, and it is possible that some amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period. Certain sold-out amiibo may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of amiibo to come.
Unfortunately the statement stops short of addressing the situation of whether Marth, Villager or Wii Fit Trainer are discontinued or not. We\’ll keep you updated with any new Nintendo statements regarding the topic.
