Nintendo, like most other companies, have realized the benefits of releasing software on mobile devices. The market has been growing at an exceptional rate over the last few years, and it isn’t showing many signs of slowing down anytime soon. A lot of game developers have released apps on the various app stores and it has proven to be pretty successful. Nintendo started their mobile journey earlier this year with the launch of Miitomo, but the party really didn’t start until the release of Pokemon GO! back in the summer.
President Kimishima recently gave a statement reiterating what Nintendo’s strategy and goals are as it relates to mobile support:
As we have explained in the past, Nintendo has three main goals when it comes to our smart device business. We would like to utilize smart devices as a platform to reach the maximum number of consumers with our IP. Of course, we also expect the smart device business to be profitable on its own, while generating synergy with our dedicated video game systems to maximize the potential of Nintendo’s overall business strategies. In addition to already-released Miitomo, we expect to have released the three titles listed above in series by the end of March 2017.
